Changing the mind and brain…
The brain patterns causing mental health symptoms play a large role in the beliefs you develop about yourself and the world.
So often, the mind needs as much healing as the brain. This is why I have found great success in combining both neurofeedback (balancing the brain) with individual therapy (mastering the mind).
Let’s look at this treatment through the eyes of John.
John, a 28-year-old, was about to begin a new career that required a great deal of self-motivation. He had been dealing with anxiety for much of his life.
John’s wife, a past client, suggested he come in for neurofeedback for help with his fear-based thinking toward his new job.
After just a few weeks of neurofeedback sessions, his anxiety decreased almost completely; however, he still found himself with fear-based thoughts that sapped his motivation. If the anxiety had gone, where were these thoughts originating?
Think of it this way, the doctor removing a cast from your broken leg doesn’t automatically give you the confidence to put weight on it.
Such is the brain and the mind.
Changing the beliefs that hold you back
Through counseling, John and I were able to talk through and replace his faulty beliefs with empowering truths that helped him gain confidence and thrive at his new job.
When you come in for a session, you don’t need to know if you would prefer to do neurofeedback, individual therapy, or both. We can explore your options together and decide how treatment should be customized for your unique needs.
